The Journal of Environmental Quality (JEQ) is a bimonthly journal published by ASA, CSSA, and SSSA. The journal publishes contributions under the headings of (i) Technical Reports, (ii) Reviews and Analyses, (iii) Environmental Issues, (iv) Technical Notes and Preliminary Communications, (v) Dataset Papers, (vi) Special Sections, (vii) Letters to the Editor, and (viii) Book Reviews.Technical Reports present original research contributions on hypothesis-driven studies.Reviews and Analyses present a scholarly review of the literature on an environmental process.Environmental Issues include discussion of contemporary environmental issues from a combination of scientific, political, legislative, and regulatory perspectives.Technical Notes and Preliminary Communications present and describe analytical techniques, laboratory and field equipment design, computer software, studies of limited scope or preliminary data with compelling results, and unique observations.Dataset papers which present and describe datasets that are accessible to other researchers for developing new studies.Technical Reports and Reviews and Analysis papers must focus on anthropogenic impacts on the environment, including terrestrial, atmospheric, and aquatic systems, with emphasis on the understanding of underlying processes. To be acceptable for consideration in JEQ, a manuscript must make a significant contribution to the advancement of knowledge or toward a better understanding of existing environmental concepts.
